FLUXFACE IN SPACE - A Fluxmuseum International Art Exhibition
Curated by artists Gary A. Bibb, Cecil Touchon and Angela Ferrara, artists are to create one original postcard sized work of art in any media with the themes of Space Explorations and the Arts, etc., using the Face In Space program from NASA, the exhibition will be launched into orbit on the last two Space Shuttles. A Book About Death - A new chapter opens at MOMA Wales, UK from April 27 to May 8 2010
A new chapter opens up in Wales, UK, organized by artist Sonja Benskin Mesher, the exhibit will be on display at The Tabernacle, Machynlleth, Wales starting April 27 and ends on May 8, 2010. Michael Chan has submitted a new work for this project's newest destination, http://www.momawales.org.uk/

Art sale to help Haiti a huge success!
A total of $35,000 was raised from the Artists Unite to Help Haiti fund raiser event held on 1/31/2010 in Montclair, NJ. 217 pieces of artworks were on sale at a minimum of $50 each. Over 400 people attended the event, and an anonymous donar pledged to match final tally bringing total raised to $35,000. Rachel Liebman and her staff did a fantastic job in organizing this fund raiser. Congratulations to all who participated.

A Book About Death "Um Livro Sobre A Morte" - A new chapter opens at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sao Paulo, Brazil from February 1 to February 28, 2010
A new chapter of the "A Book About Death" exhibition continues its journey to Sao Paul, Brazil. Organized by artist Angela Ferrara and with assistance from Matthew Rose, the exhibit features close to 300 artworks on the subject of death submitted by artists worldwide and is a continuation of the original ABAD exhibition in NYC in September 2009. Since the NYC show various forms of ABAD has been exhibited in different venues in the U.S.A.. MOMA, Queens Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art have also acquired complete sets for their museum's collection. Michael Chan contributed an artwork for the Sao Paulo exhibition and is image #30, see here. Artists Unite to Help Haiti - Jan. 31, 2010 at the BrassWorks Gallery in Montclair, NJ
River Mill Art Gallery supports the art sale to help the earthquake victims of Haiti by donating framed art works by Michael Chan and Yi Yin. In addition artworks were also donated by artists J. Csatari, R. Cattan, K. Steiner, D. Hinlicky, E. Heins, C. Hogarth, J. Hogarth, E. Mackenzie, B. Hainstock, G. Valle, C. Espenschied and J. Stoner to be matted and framed for submission to this fund raising effort. In all a total of 17 pieces will be sent to the BrassWorks Gallery in Montclair, NJ for sale on Sunday, January 31, 2010 for $50 each. We deeply appreciate the aforementioned artists for their generous contribution.

Worldwide Photowalk - July 18, 2009
The second annual worldwide photowalk is a social networking event for photo enthusiasts all over the world. Michael Chan is hosting the photowalk for the Westfield area. Up to 50 photographers will take part in photographing downtown Westfield. It is open to photographers in all levels of expertise and is a great opportunity to test drive your digital camera, new lenses and to share knowledge and tips with fellow photographers. "Wounded Warrior Project" Deemed "A Success"

The combined fundraising effort between the History Club of Spotswood High School and the River Mill Art Gallery raised nearly $3,000 toward supplies and equipment for wounded soldiers returning from Iraq. Read more...

Art Auction To Benefit South River Library
River Mill Art Gallery is proud to be a team member to help raise funds to benefit the renovation of the South River Library. We will donate our custom framing service to artworks donated by famed South River artist Joseph Csatari, East Brunswick artist Don Bloom, and Maui artist Donald Jusko. The event will be held at the Ria Mar Portugese Restaurant in South River. Tickets to the auction are $10 each, admission includes free wine and cheese, h'ors d'oeuvres, coffee and dessert, and door prizes. Preview starts at 6:30 p.m., auction starts at 8:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at River Mill Gallery, the Ria Mar Restaurant, and the South River Library.

Hurricane Relief Art Sale
River Mill Art Gallery will be holding a special art sale from 9/20 to 9/30 to raise funds for the hurricane victims. Selected custom framed posters, etchings, photography, calligraphy, panoramas, woodcuts, prints, and decorative arts will be offered to the public at up to 75% off their original price. Half of the proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross.
