Yi Yin, born in China, studied oil painting at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts
in Guangzhou, China, where she received her bachelor of arts degree in 1982. She came to New York in 1985 to study for her master of fine arts degree at
The City College of New York under professors Madeline Gekiere, Jay Milder, Seong Moy. She was awarded the gold medal at The National Arts Club in New York
for emerging artists sponsored by Grumbacher. Her versatility covers a broad range
of media, including oil, watercolors, acrylic, charcoal, pastel and digital. She has
completed numerous commissions and has done illustrations for Time-Life books.
